You would think that a critically acclaimed film that has won the most awards (13 out of 14) at the Academy of Canadian Cinema would at least be made available on dvd, but it has not. It is now Out Of Print (OOP) in all formats.

French Canadian language and subtitled in English.

This is the jungle of Montreal's underworld. The human zoo with it's captive wild life. The nights that never end. The city as lonely and untamed as any wilderness...and twice as threatening. This is NIGHT ZOO, a glossy, urban thriller of one man's struggle to escape the stranglehold of crime and desolation and to make peace with his dying father.

Marcel is released from prison only to find his father dying, his girlfriend on the skids, and the crooked gay cop that put him in jail coming back for more. Slowly at first, but then with the desperation of a man gasping for air, Marcel attempts to sever his ties with the underworld once and for all. And begin a tender, sometimes painful reconciliation with his father--the father he never really knew.

His father reveals that he has drugs and money stashed away for him! Marcel and his his gay former cellmate both corner the corrupt cop and get their revenge on him.

The talented director would die in a plane crash 10 years later.
