is the subject of the Royal Copenhagen 1942 Christmas plate, the 35th plate in the series that began in 1908 and continues to this day. Very few plates were made during the Second World War (when Denmark was occupied by Germany), and they are among the most valuable in the entire series.
The scene is embossed on Danish porcelain and hand painted in traditional Copenhagen blue under the glaze. Diameter just over 7 inches. Artwork by Niels Thorsson. Last Book Value (2004) was $500 to $600.
EXCELLENT CONDITION (no chips, cracks, or crazing), and FIRST QUALITY (no scratch through the trademark). A very attractive plate!
