Attempting to cash in on the 1970s popularity of the numerous adventure thrillers written by ALISTAIR MacLEAN (whom they also published), Fawcett Publications commissioned fellow writer MARVIN H. ALBERT (author of many, many mystery and western novels, under his own name or other pseudonyms) to create a series of four thriller and adventure novels, using the pen-name IAN MacALISTER.  (Get it -- IAN MacALISTER even sounds like ALISTAIR MacLEAN!).  While well written adventure novels, the IAN MacALISTER thrillers are less satisfying than those written by ALISTAIR MacLEAN -- it's hard to beat such classics as WHERE EAGLES DARE, ICE STATION ZEBRA, THE GUNS OF NAVARONE, and so on.  But, when you run out of ALISTAIR MacLEAN adventures, try the books of IAN MacALISTER -- they still pack a mean punch!
