This queen introduction frame fits 8 frame or 10 frame Langstroth hives. Avoid many of the problems associated with installing a new queen in your hive. Candy up, candy down, how the cage faces, where to place the cage...you can ignore ALL those questions. 1. Close the exit hole at the top of the frame by rotating the metal tab over the hole. 2. Remove the cork from the "non-candy" end of the queen cage. Be sure to keep your finger over the hole so the queen does not escape. 3. Place the queen cage in the queen frame slot designed to hold the queen cage with the open hole of the queen cage facing toward the open hole in the queen frame. Be sure to secure the queen cage in the queen frame with a rubber band, string or tape. Use as little tape or string as necessary to hold the queen cage into position. 4. Open the hive and remove a frame from the hive body. 5. Place the frame near the center of the hive body. 6. Close up the hive. 7. In 2 days open to the hive to get to the queen frame. 8. Turn the metal tab at the top of the frame to the OPEN position. 9.Close the hive. 10. Next day or two, open to the hive to get to the queen frame. The queen should be OUT of the frame by now. If she is out, remove the queen frame, replace a frame to fill the open space, and close up the hive. If she is NOT out of the frame, close the hive and recheck in 24 hours. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED.
