Exceptionally rare GENUINE BAKELITE (tests positive with simichrome polish) GENUINE ART DECO ANTIQUE long beaded lariat necklace...
These pieces are really rare and sought after - this one fresh from an estate is so iconic of the art deco period
It's really long and is designed to wrap or twist - as you walk it sort of sways and moves with this sexy elegance and it feels nice on the neckline
The beads are sort of edible looking like luscious toffees or caramels....and are a burnt toffee or dark toffee and butterscotch color. Even the luster and texture of them somehow makes you think delicious lollies....in a sensuous way...
Some measurements 45 3/4" in length approximately
large beads at the ends of the lariat are 1 9/16" approx long
toffee beads each approx 1 7/8" long
round butterscotch beads measure either approx 3/8" and approx 5/8" alternating
There is a serious sexiness and fun and history to this beautiful necklace
Priced acknowledging restringing will be required (this might be $70 AUD or so guessing from restringing a heavy american indian necklace recently - cost will vary on your location and where you might take it for restringing....or if you are handy you could do yourself!)
Comment - DEALER LOT ! make us an offer! This piece is truly an amazing bargain and will be available here now just once. If you like it...I need to say...there is one of this and you will not see another available...it is beautiful....rare...sexy...very special and will continue to be a great investment either selling now or wearing and enjoying - this piece will continue to appreciate in value.
On Etsy at the moment there is a necklace about 24" long not sexy or nice in this way at all at $2800 USD approx $4340 AUD, single large beads in cherry colored bakelite from the period have sold for $4249.80 USD EACH approx $6591 AUD each - if that seems crazy and amazing please take a look!
Further to that on 1stdibs right now there is an art deco cherry necklace - a tad boring and not sexy like this for $7335 AUD!

Plain bakelite art deco necklaces are very expensive...this one in particular is really wonderful in the style...the choice of shapes of beads ....it's got a real sense of excitement from the jazz age about it that makes this piece even nicer than the photos show.
