Description
.999 Pure Copper 1 oz
Obverse
For the obverse design of Copper Cryptid Creatures Drop Bear Rounds, you will find the image of a Drop Bear in a tree. The Drop Bear is a cryptozoological creature from Australian culture that is based on the koala, but its a creation of the imaginations of locals. The Drop Bear is said to be ravenous and a twist on the friendly koala. The inscriptions on this side of the round include only DROP BEAR.
Reverse
In the reverse field of 1 oz Copper Drop Bear Rounds, the mint features a common design element used on all rounds in the series. The image on this face includes the US national shield at the center. This is flanked by eagles wings and topped by the American flag. All of the elements mentioned above have a torn-and-tattered appearance, creating a spooky theme for the release. Inscriptions on this side read COPPER .999 FINE and ONE AVDP OUNCE, as well as CRYPTID CREATURES.
History
The Drop Bear is a twist on the koala that was created in Australian folklore to scare tourists away. The koala, although a marsupial, is often inaccurately referred to as a koala bear. The Drop Bear mythology recasts the lovable, cuddly creatures with razor-sharp teeth, long, deadly claws, and aggressive nature.
