As additional historical information, a partially completed three-story warehouse that survived the 1889 Spokane fire was redesigned and converted into a five-story hotel that became known as "The Spokane". The hotel closed on Christmas Day, 1961, and was subsequently razed to accommodate the construction of the Ridpath Motor Inn which was linked to the existing Ridpath Hotel.
