30th Anniversary of the Liberation of Denmark 1945-1975

Bing & Grondahl (B&G) Plate issued to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Liberation of Denmark from Nazi Germany’s occupation 1940-1945. The inscriptions on the front read MODSTANDSKAMPEN which translates as THE RESISTANCE STRUGGLE, and HVIS ET FOLK VIL LEVE -- MÅ NOGER KUNNE DO which roughly translates as IF A PEOPLE WILL LIVE -- MAYBE A PERSON COULD ALSO.

The inscription on the back reads FREMSTELLET FOR GESTAPOFANGERNES SJAELLANDSAFDELING I ANLEDNING AF 30-ARET FOR DANMARKS BEFRIELSE which translates as PRODUCED FOR THE SJÆLLAND DEPARTMENT OF THE GESTAPO PRISONERS ON THE OCCASION OF THE 30TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE LIBERATION OF DENMARK. The barbed wire and large V for Victory on the front repeat these themes. SJÆLLAND (or Zealand) is the name of the large island on which Copenhagen is located.
