The ring needs a nice polish. The brownish spots are removable with a cleaner. It is NOT tarnished. I used a cleaner and that is what the brown parts are. I couldn't get into the grooves to remove it. I wanted to get it listed for. I think it is Sterling but I cannot find any markings.
