The Pulitzer Prize winning playwright and author's first book featuring traveling fashion sales woman Emma McChesney, comprises ten tales of the working woman's adventures, and is an excellent early example of independent and self-sufficient females.

Ferber's successful 1915 play 'Our Miss McChesney' featuring this saleswoman character was adapted to the 1918 silent film starring Ethel Barrymore.

Unusually well-preserved and presentable.

Lower corner tips lightly bumped, slight rubs to the lower spine edge, barely perceptible former owner's name stamped to the front and rear inside covers, minor spotting to the lower page edges, else about near fine and square in rather bright green linen with gilt embossed titles and border framed with a decorative raised design to a blind-stamped border, with gilt embossed titles to the spine; lacking a dust jacket.
