Stanford law student Jillian (Jess Weixler) decides to put her career on hold to pursue a life in the arts. Quickly finding that she has no creative talent, Jillian becomes stuck, and ends up adrift in Los Angeles, with a small group of oddball friends. One of her friends, Nancy, unexpectedly has to attend an intervention for her older brother and she snags a very reluctant Lillian to drive her ice cream truck giving away free samples of a new product. Slightly hung over from the night before and in no mood to be messed with, Jillian ends up roaring at her customers who constantly bother her with ridiculous questions or approach her with bad attitudes. As the day drags on, Jillian finds herself dealing with Tex (Jesse Einsenberg), a man she met the previous night, whom she barely remembers but who wants to take her out to dinner. An actress from the forties, a homeless woman who takes six hours to buy Lillian a cup of coffee, Nancy's drug addicted brother Peter who is looking for Nancy (while Nancy is looking for him) and, finally, her law school fiance who just happens to be in Los Angeles. This one day spent in a truck on the streets of Los Angeles will wake Jillian from her aimless daze and make her see that life doesn't stop just because you want it to.
