Excerpts from Ancestry:
1916 - 2001
Mary Louis Vournazos was an artist who started painting as a pre-teen and continued until about a year before her death in March 2001. Her career as a commercial artist included work on the Chicago stockyards newspaper in the 40's, for Compton Printing and Engraving Co in Portsmouth during the early 50's and for Selby Shoe Company as an illustrator for their catalog. She did portraits to order for many folks and has portraits hanging all around the country! Her earliest oil portrait was of her grandfather, Barton Dudley Morris. I still have that one. She was a member of the Portsmouth Art League. She received early education at the Columbus Art College. Later on, she later continued her art education at the Columbus College of Art and Design. She worked in oils, pastel, water color, acrylics and egg tempra.
During her lifetime she had paintings hung in museums in Chicago, Columbus, and Portsmouth.
