Elderberry bushes (Sambucus canadensis) are known for their berries which can be made into syrups, wines, jellies and jams. The flowers of elderberries can also be used in cordials, liqueurs, and syrups.

Plants are vigorous and easy to grow and thrive in a variety of soil types and conditions. Fruit can be harvested or left on the plant to provide seasonal forage for wildlife. Grow it as a shrub, or cut it back each year and use it as a bold perennial.
