Planting and Location

Lighting: Variegated jade plants need bright, indirect sunlight to maintain their colorful foliage. They can tolerate some direct sunlight, especially morning sun, but too much direct sun can scorch the leaves. Rotate the plant occasionally to ensure even growth.

Watering: Like regular jade plants, variegated jades prefer to dry out between waterings. Water thoroughly when the top inch or so of the soil is dry during the growing season (spring and summer). Reduce watering in the winter months when growth slows down.

Soil: Plant variegated jade in a well-draining succulent or cactus potting mix. Ensure the pot has drainage holes to prevent water from pooling at the bottom, which can lead to root rot.

Temperature and Humidity: Variegated jade plants prefer average room temperatures between 65-75°F (18-24°C). They are sensitive to cold drafts and temperatures below 50°F (10°C), so protect them during colder months. They adapt well to normal household humidity levels.

Fertilizing: Feed variegated jade plants with a balanced liquid fertilizer diluted to half strength during the growing season (spring and summer). Fertilize sparingly or not at all during the winter months when growth slows down.

Pruning and Propagation: Prune variegated jade plants to maintain their shape and encourage bushier growth. You can propagate them from stem or leaf cuttings, just like regular jade plants.
