This is a great little mechanical pencil advertising Gulf Oil with a floaty oil bubble encapsulated in the top end. The lead is advanced by rotating the tip of the nib (there is currently no lead inside but the tip rotates the metal rod in and out perfectly). The top of the pen is filled with oil and has a bubble inside and a black bead (not sure what the bead is for). It has the words "This is Gulf Pride" on the outside of the oil capsule. The middle portion of the pen is an ivory color with the Gulf logo in full color on one side and an advertisement for J. E. Emmel of Pittsburgh on the other. The other end is bright orange with slight ridged design for comfort when writing. The nib portion is brass with tiny grooves to give a grip when rotating to advance the lead.
All in all this is a great pencil in excellent condition for its age (assume it is from the 1930's from what I have read). It is 5-1/2" long.
