Ruth is well known in the art community as a respected artist who began her painting career over 50 years ago in her homeland, Germany, in the city of Schwabisch Gmuend, an area famous for design and art since the middle ages. Since moving to the Rochester area in 1960, Ruth has studied under several local artists and teachers. Eventually Ruth developed her own style using a Wet-In-Wet technique that uses bold brush strokes full of vibrant colors. Her favorite subject is nature and all that it reveals to her in so many natural settings. Ruth receives her subject inspirations from our own Finger Lakes Region (many of her paintings feature Canandaigua Lake and surrounding country sides), Rockport, Massachusetts (the home of so many world-renowned artists), Long Lake in the Adirondack Mountains, Florida, Maine, and Bay St. Paul near Quebec City, Canada.

Ruth, well known to many in this area has been the only artist selected four times as the feature poster artist to advertise and represent the annual Canandaigua Lake Waterfront Art Festival. Over the past 30 years Ruth has been a member of the Rochester Art Club, Chili Art Club, Pittsford Art Club and Rockport, Massachusetts Art Club. During this period she has won over 200 ribbons and art awards, as well as second highest award for a Florida beach painting. She does two shows a year for View Gallery in Old Forge, New York and has been twice accepted to their Master’s Program. She also exhibits at Sonnenberg Arts in the Garden as well as the Memorial Art Gallery Clothesline Festival.
