Elder Paisios of Mount Athos ELDER HADJI-GEORGE The Athonite 1809-1886 PREFATORY NOTE With God’s help we have completed the publication of the book “Elder Hadji-Georgis the Athonite” by Elder Paisios of blessed memory, in response to the desire of many English-speaking Orthodox to have the Elder’s books in their mother tongue. Feeling the responsibility as well as the obligation towards the Elder, who feared that his words might be altered through translations and do harm rather than good, we delayed this publication hoping and striving for the most faithful rendition of the original as possible. We warmly thank those who helped us in our effort and especially Dr. Michael Christakis who out of love and reverence towards the Elder willingly worked together with the Nuns of the Monastery until the translation took on its final form. May the Good God through the intercessions of the Elder Hadji-Georgis and the Elder Paisios grant His blessings abundantly to all and fulfil all requests to their salvation.
