Colonel Sir Fitzroy Donald Maclean, 10th Baronet of Duart and Morvern, succeeded his father as the 26th Chief of the Clan Maclean on the 27th of December in 1883. Though listed in Black’s 1904 Who’s Who, Sir Fitzroy will forever be remembered as the man who restored Duart Castle to his clan. Sir Fitzroy embodied the renaissance of the Clan Maclean who’s resurgence owes much to his leadership as its chief. Sir Fitzroy was a career officer of the British Army and a Crimean War veteran.
