Lynn Latimer graduated from Rhode Island School of Design in 1975 with a BFA in Painting. Working with glass began at RISD as an independent study, exploring stained glass under the guidance of Dale Chihuly, who was then the head of the RISD Glass Department. Chris VanAllsberg, a graduate student at the time, introduced Lynn to sandblasting glass, which continues to be an important element.

She started Latimer Glass Studio in 1976 -  The transition from stained glass to kiln-formed glass took place in her work in 1990.

Lynn has always had a love for drawing and color. She has found inspiration in the paintings of Paul Klee, Pierre Bonnard, primitive art, the subtle color shifts in hand-knotted rugs and old textiles, as well as the aesthetics of Japanese gardens and Wabi Sabi
