It got FCC AND IEEE approval for public use in SEPT. 1983. The first mobile phone the DYNATAC 8000X RETAILED FOR $4000 (almost $12000 today) and was 42 cents / minute (today’s $1.25) weighed appx 2+ lbs and over a foot long.

WORTHPOINT, FORBES, COLLECTORS WEEKLY all state that good quality early cell phones are a sound investment.
The seller is known for selling only quality early DynaTAC PHONES. As with any collectible investment it’s the provenance , condition and reputation of the seller. Being #1 in Google was no small achievement. The seller recently sold one which an exhibitor at the 2024 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Los Vegas put on display. Others have been shipped all over the world.
Let’s face it, made in the USA, it still functions and looks new. The duplex battery eliminator is very rare.
The seller is including several antennas and a super secret bonus.!!!!!!
You get what you’re paying for. In this condition they are in short supply. Sought after by techno collectors, museums, IT PEOPLE, the vintage car buff, teaching institutions, former phone company executives, etc.
Theoretically some techno prepper with a wave TEC 600 CT Frequency emulator could generate an 800 amps frequency (824-896) and made their own EMP resistant net. Laws permitting
Signature Required Upon Delivery
As with the vintage electronics niche, this item functions as posted at time of listing. Hence, AS IS- NO-RETURNS. You are dealing with a 5.0 rated seller. All parts invisibly marked to prevent swapping!!!! THERE is no comparable lot listing on the web.
This becomes a super thick brick.
NOTE: As a point of info, there is no supporting 800 amps system in existence 31 years later. Hence , ET CANNOT PHONE HOME!!!!!
One last note, this phone has a CHICAGO area code. Interesting that under Chicago University Stadium (STAGG FIELD) the first self-sustaining nuclear reaction occurred in 1942. The seller sold a piece of that reactor. He has good insights as to the collectibility of objects.
Thanks for looking!
WARNING: This is not a toy . Never let anyone activate the LOCK button. It?s a torture to retrieve the 3 digit unlock code.
Please examine photos fully for additional condition information.
