- Oriental Poppy. Papaver Orientale Maybe the world's most popular wildflower. Papaver Orientale is a perennial flowering plant native to the Caucasus, northeastern Turkey, and northern Iran. Oriental poppies grow in a clump or mound of leaves that are something like a fern or a marigold. They gather energy and bloom in mid-summer. Blooms are large (3"- 4") orange with a purple center and grow on a stalk about 30" tall. After flowering the foliage dies away entirely, a property that allows their survival in the summer drought of Central Asia. Gardeners can place late-developing plants nearby to fill in. These plants have a long-life span, ten years plus and are pretty much carefree after established. 500+ Quality seeds. Thank You!.
