Catalogna chicory (Cichorium intybus var. foliosum), also known as puntarelle, includes a whole subfamily some varieties from Belgian endive and some from radicchio of chicory and is used throughout Italy.

Uniform strain. At baby-leaf stage, leaves are narrow and spoon-shaped with subtle spikes along the margins and a thin petiole. At full size, leaves are long, deep green, slender, and deeply cut with white midribs. Slow-bolting and upright.
