This book contains an illustrated introductory essay on the history and development of the flying wing, followed by the YB-49 Pilot's Handbook. The YB-49 was a jet version of the YB-35. A great backlog of flying experience on the YB-35s and YB-49s showed that excellent turns could be made without rudder and that, in general, these planes were far more maneuverable than their conventional contemporaries. The last obstacle of providing directional stability with no stabilizing fins or fences was still to be overcome.
