Made in the USA
Introduced in 1890 by Parker Brothers, "History Up To Date" is a simple question game like other history card games of the late 19th century. This version's latest question was about World War I. The original 5-1/2" x 7" x 1" box with a color lithograph of a Civil War battle pasted on top of the lid, houses 48 numbered cards with the answers above the questions. The instruction sheet, telling how to play the game, calls it "A New, Instructive Game for the Home or the Schoolroom". Advertising on back of instruction sheet shows the game of Pit and Rook (patented on March 22, 1910). Parker Brothers became very successful throughout the 20th century, producing more than 1800 games since 1883, when at 16, George S. Parker created his first game called "Banking".
