This is for a vintage WWII genuine leather sewing kit made by Harday. It was issued to Donald O (or C) M**** (name blurred out in pics to protect privacy of individual who may or may not still be alive). The kit was in a batch of militaria that we purchased from a Pittsburgh estate (some of which are being offered on our other auctions). This kit still contains a few of the original items such as the US made steel scissors, a thimble, needles and some uniforn buttons in military green color. There are also a few other things of interest in there including a Temporary Post Exchange Permit for the Japan Central Exchange dated Jun 4 1952. There is also a small jar with some kind of gray powder inside ... not sure what it is and we did not open it. The soldier's name is stamped inside the kit and he also signed it on the Permit. His middle initial is stamped O on the kit but he signed it C so assume C is correct. The name is not blurred out on the actual items. Also included is a travel soap container. The sewing kit measures 4-1/2" x 3" x 1-1/4" and has a front closure snap.
