This vintage Marmaca candlestick holder is a unique piece of Tuscan art pottery that will add a touch of Baroque style to any room.

Handmade in the Republic of San Marino, Tuscany, Italy, in the mid-20th century, this original piece exhibits its provenance through its pottery mark for MARMACA Rep. S. Marino. The once small factory was set up in 1947 by Filippo Martelli, Luigi Masi, and Wilfred Carlin. It quickly grew into a sizable 150-artisan factory by 1949, at which point the name changed to S.A. Marmaca Porcellane, indicating that this piece was manufactured sometime between 1947 and 1949.

Beneath its glossy finish, the artist in a Baroque style amid vibrant colors, contrasting patterns, and dramatic flourishes offers an abstract vignette of the famous three towers of Citta di San Marino, ancient symbols of the country and often featured in ceramics of San Marino. This portrayal of the three towers also suggests that this is likely a souvenir piece sold to a tourist on holiday in the region and brought back to the states with them. Alternatively, it may have been a gift sent from abroad. Either way, this vintage piece represents fine art pottery of centuries-old artisan tradition from Marmaca, one of the most famous makers in modern times.

Measuring 5 inches in length and width, with a 3-inch base diameter, this candlestick holder is suitable for taper or dinner candles and is perfect for any occasion. The hand-painted details make it a true work of art. This piece makes a fantastic gift or would be a great addition to your collection, sure to impress your guests.
