SIR BAGBY

7.5" x 20.5" original daily newspaper comic strip art from 7/6/1965

 By Rick & Bill Hackney

Sir Bagby was an American daily strip created by brothers Rick Hackney and Bill Hackney, who signed the strip "R & B Hackney." Sir Bagby was written by Bill Hackney, drawn by brother Rick Hackney, and appeared from 1957-1966.  Syndicated by Bell-McClure, the strip never reached stardom, appearing in about 20 papers across the country (L.A. Times, Boston Globe, Louisville Courier-Journal, Chicago Sun-Times, etc.), developing a loyal following.  Sir Bagby was a tale of knights and kings, dragons and jesters, with a decidedly current flavor, satirizing the political scene and national and international problems in the manner of Pogo.

The strip is complete and in FINE condition with some light wear that includes a light vertical fold in the middle.
