This type of artwork started becoming available in the late 1960s with the widespread availability of various resins. This is one of the earliest.

Comes with its original base, a light that is switched on the cord and a free bulb.

The bottom reads: "illusions are three dimensional sculptures made by American artists using the ancient lost wax process. Through the use of this art form what appears as a sculpture within a sculpture is created. What is seen as a full dimensional object in case within a sculpture of crystalline is in reality only an illusion. There's nothing there but the translucent vision of the artist's creativity."

"Each illusion is individually handcrafted. The natural result of its hand casting is that no two pieces are exactly alike. Each piece has its own distinguishing characteristics created by the artist during the sculpting process. These incomparable pieces will enhance any decor and are the perfect gift for anyone who enjoys the unusual."

"For your continued enjoyment your illusion should not be exposed to direct sunlight. We recommend cleaning with denatured alcohol (do not use ammonia) and a soft cloth."

"Illusions are made and distributed in the United states."
