The 1972 United States presidential election was the 47th quadrennial presidential election held on Tuesday, November 7, 1972. Incumbent Republican president Richard Nixon defeated Democratic U.S. senator George McGovern in a landslide victory taking 60.7% of the popular vote & carrying 49 states & becoming the first republican to sweep the South., whereas George McGovern took 37.5% of the popular vote.

These commemorative playing cards from McGovern's Presidential campaign are Very Very Rare today.

These are Standard deVille Playing Cards. The reverse has GOLD print on a DARK BLUE field, read "1972 Presidential Campaign Commemorative Issue".  There are 52 cards +  2 'special line drawing of GEORGE McGOVERN' jokers (see photo) + 2 further jokers with 'shield monogram' (one red/one black)

The cards are in MINT condition. They are still wrapped in original cellophane and unopened. The pack of cards are in the original plastic box - the clear lid slightly scuffed.
