First, I found this large, 8 tumbler handled tray/carrier. So I wanted to store tumblers on it. To my surprise most glasses I have tried will not fit! Maybe it's just the glasses I use, which mostly are Anchor Hocking ware, I don't know. But finally I found this set of Anchor Hocking Laser Blue glasses that will fit on the tray. The pattern is Flair and they were made around 1976. Flair was made in several sizes. But this size that fits the beverage tray is the 5 1/4" tall, 11 1/2 ounce beverage tumbler. They fit perfectly! So I have kept them together ever since.

The tray was made by either L. E. Smith Glass Company or the Greensburg Glass Company, which Smith bought in 1920 and continued to operate until 1939, when they sold it (but retained the molds). There is a smaller, 6 tumbler tray shown in the Greensburg catalog, but not this size. Smith probably had another mold made to make this larger size that holds 8 tumblers. I do not know for sure when this tray was made -- it's not mentioned in either of the books on L E Smith Glass. The tray is 9 3/4 inches wide across the bottom, but the sides slant outward, so the full width is 10 1/4 inches. It's 7 1/4 inches tall. There is a stippled texture on the bottom of the tray. The handle is very pretty, and is a shape that only L E Smith used (and Greensburg). The tray weighs 2 pounds, 3.9 ounces.

The glasses measure 5 1/4 inches tall and 2 3/4 inches wide at the top. They are just slightly over 2 inches wide at the bottom. They hold about 11 ounces of liquid filled to the very top of the brim. They are the gorgeous blue color, named Laser Blue, which Anchor Hocking made only in the 1970s. Each tumbler weighs approximately 9.3 ounces.

There is no damage on any of the pieces -- no chips or cracks. There may be an occasional small use scratch on a tumbler, but very few.

The total well-packed shipping weight will be 9 or 10 pounds, so will cost around $28.
