SAN XAVIER DEL BAC MISSION

Revered as the "White Dove of the Desert," the Mission San Xavier del Bac is a stunning example of Spanish colonial architecture. Founded in 1700 by Padre Kino, the mission was named for his patron saint. The Indian word "Bac" means

"where the water emerges."
