From the Editor: HIGHLIGHTS FOR CHILDREN has a greater variety of activities than any other publication for children. There are two types of activities found in every issue. One type involves the child in concrete physical activity. The other type involves the use of imagination and reasoning power. The benefit of involving children in both becomes apparent in their enjoyment of learning. As you read aloud the poem "If We Walked on Our Hands" on page 6, the use of imagination stimulates the child to look at the world in a new way. "Travel Games" on pages 12 and 13 gives your children twelve suggestions of things to do while confined to the back seat of a car. It is this combination of activities which makes HIGHLIGHTS unique.
