This rather large antique Pima Papago Native American basket is a beautiful piece of art and it's size makes it quite rare and unique. Hand woven with coiled Yucca or Split Willow, and Devils Claw, it features a natural coloring of a grassy tan with the deep brown color of devils claw used in the abstract geometric symbols and design woven into the basket and lid - a palette that complements any decor.
As one of the largest Papago baskets I've ever come across, with its lid, it measures about 20" tall and 24".wide, and weighs about 15 lbs (though I haven't had anywhere to weigh it just yet) Made by a Pima Papago Native American around the turn of the 20th century, this original piece is rare and perfect for collectors of ethnographic antiques. Whether you're a fan of Native American art or simply appreciate unique and beautiful items, this basket is a must-have for your collection.
