Antique Haywood-Wakefield Spindle Bow Back Children's 26" Wood Chair
by Haywood-Wakefield, Chicago, Ill.

Add a touch of traditional charm to your child's bedroom or play room with this antique Heywood-Wakefield spindle bow back chair circa 1921. I found an original catalog from the company showing this chair as part of their school furnishing line. Crafted from solid oak, this chair is in excellent condition the manufacturer's tag remains on the bottom, along with what appears to be a crafter's mark stamped into the wood. Heywood was known for their chairs, starting out in the Boston area in the early 1800's.

The tag details are hard to make out after fading through the years, but you can see that the original color was called Golden Light, which is supported by catalog notations about the company's chairs (see photos).. It's since been stained/painted dark blackish brown, but the golden color peeks through giving it a unique patina.

The chair has no cracks, splintering or warping, and no chipping of the finish. There are a few scuffs at the feet, as one would expect of a chair of this age and use.  Keep it as is or refinish or paint it to match your child's room or preference.

This child's chair is perfect for any room, including a bedroom or family room. It has a backrest height of 15 inches and a seat depth of 13.50 inches. The chair weighs 5 pounds and has a total height of 26 inches and a width of 12.50 inches. It is an original piece from the 1920s and is perfect for collectors of antique furniture.
