William Falconer was a significant figure in the medical field during the Georgian era. He was an Edinburgh-trained physician, most renowned for his research into the medicinal effects of the Bath waters. His work here was awarded the Fothergill gold medal by the Medical Society of London in 1796. Falconer’s research into the Bath waters was not just about their impact on chronic conditions. It also represented an important contribution to the development of Georgian medical procedures. The use of statistical analysis to understand and treat diseases, was a significant shift from the traditional approaches of the day.
This work quite literally helped shape the medical field as we know it today. Our modern-day medical field stands on the shoulders of men such as William Falconer M.D.F.R.S.
Yet another remarkable Capture of Tyme have we here – a very distinctive book indeed.
