Grow Your Own Onions from Seed!

Instructions:

1. Prepare Soil: Choose well-draining soil with a pH between 6.0 and 7.0. Loosen the soil to a depth of at least 6 inches and remove any rocks or debris.

2. Plant Seeds: Sow onion seeds directly into the prepared soil, spacing them about oe inch apart and covering them with a thin layer of soil.

3. Water: Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Water gently to avoid displacing the seeds.

4. Provide Sunlight: Onions prefer full sun, so choose a location that receives at least 6-8 hours of sunlight per day.

5. Thin Seedlings: Once the seedlings emerge, thin them to ensure proper spacing, leaving about 4-6 inches between each plant.

6. Mulch: Mulch around the onion plants to retain soil moisture, suppress weeds, and protect the roots from temperature fluctuations.

7. Care: Keep the soil evenly moist throughout the growing season. Fertilize lightly with a balanced fertilizer every 3-4 weeks.

8. Harvest: Onions are typically ready to harvest when the tops turn yellow and start to fall over, usually 100-150 days after planting. Pull up the onions and allow them to dry in a warm, well-ventilated area for 2-3 weeks.
