Mountain Gold Tomatoes are 8 to 12 ounces, firm, smooth, and golden-yellow when ripe. Mountain Gold Tomatoes have a mild, sweet flavor with a hint of acid. Mountain Gold Tomatoes are resistant to cracking and hold up better than other yellow tomatoes both on the vine and after picking. Dr. Randolph G. Gardner developed this variety in 1990 at the North Carolina State Mountain Horticultural Crops Research Station. Mountain Gold Tomatoes were bred to be superior in disease resistance. They have a sweet, mild flavor with just a little bite to it, adding up to a very pleasant taste.
