Egyptian statue Apis. Pharaonic bull. Similar statue of Lapis. Brilliantly made in Egypt

Apis (Apis), in ancient Egyptian mythology, was the sacred bull or bull lord of the city of Memphis. Any bull found bearing a white triangle on its side, and the rest all black, was considered a personification of Apis. The priest was inspired to predict the future from his behavior and movements. The bull was not allowed to live more than 25 years, when it reached this age, it was drowned and a new bull was being searched for. If he dies before this age, he is buried with a solemn ceremony in Saqqara, south of Cairo. The cult of Apis was later closely associated with the god Ptah, but he was also worshiped by the Greeks and Romans. In the time of the Ptolemies, he was worshiped with Osiris under the name Serapis, and his center of worship was in Alexandria.
