Estate Find--Collector of Art: by acclaimed Alaskan artist Rie Munoz (1921-2015), this cheerful 2004 8.5” x 12.5” limited edition lithograph print by is entitled “CLEANING A HALIBUT”. It’s numbered 372/700 and is signed in pencil by the artist.


This fisherman has just caught a small 'chicken halibut' 15-20 lbs, which are better tasting than the monster 'barn door' halibut that are 10 times larger. Unlike most fish which have 2 fillets, a halibut has 4, 2 on each side. The dog in this painting will surely get some halibut with his dinner as well.

Rie Munoz (1921-2015) was a beloved Alaskan artist and is famous for her vibrant, unpretentious watercolors of scenes of daily Alaskan life. Born in California, she later lived first in the Netherlands and then in Virginia before moving to Southeast Alaska in 1951
