METLOX Cookie Jar Cinderella- Vintage Pottery 1950s[a*5]
Item Description
This cookie jar was called "Lady of Mistery" because without markings it was difficult to find who was the maker. In the catalog by Mark and Ellen Supnick, The Wonderful World of Cookie Jars, Metlox has listed this Cinderella, blond and in red hair, as a Matlox. Its value in the 1990s was placed at $ 400-$500. There are no markings on the bottom, which is why she was a mystery. But further research identified her. Unfortunately this piece had a hard life, she has hairlines in the border of the opening and in the bottom. Look at the pictures. Still she is a treasure for collectors. I never found another Cinderella before. I read about her. She is pretty and very rare indeed. All off- white color with a light clear, almost rough, glaze and painted accents, with decals and gold stars around her apron and the gold cursive letters on her left shoulder - 'Cinderella'. She is 11 1/2 inches tall by 7 1/2 inches in diameter at the base. The point on her hood is not chipped or damaged as it usually happens with this kind of pieces. The lid seems to be is good condition, no chips. Only minor factor
