Following the devastating scenes that followed the destruction of New Orleans by Hurricane Katrina, a unique benefit concert was staged on 9th September 2005 to raise funds for the survivors. In addition to the music, celebrity guests including Hollywood stars Cameron Diaz, Jennifer Aniston, Bruce Willis and Morgan Freeman all made special appearances to tell the world about the plight of the survivors who had lost their homes and livelihoods, and to honour the heroes whose actions helped to save many lives. The full line-up includes: U2, Foo Fighters, Mary J Blige, Kayne West, Mariah Carey, Alicia Keys, Rod Stewart, Sheryl Crow, Dixie Chicks, Randy Newman, Paul Simon, Garth Brooks, Neil Young.
