Stanley Kubrick directs this war drama starring Matthew Modine, Adam Baldwin and R. Lee Ermey. Detailing the dehumanizing effect of military combat, the film follows a platoon of Vietnam conscripts as they join the US Marines and undergo rigorous boot camp training overseen by sadistic drill instructor Gunnery Sergeant Hartman (Ermey). Upon graduating, one of the recruits, Joker (Modine), is thrown into the war at the height of the Tet Offensive.
