Werner Herzog writes and directs this thriller starring Michael Shannon, Gael Garc?a Bernal and Veronica Ferres. In South America, an ecological disaster prompts the UN to send ecologists Dr Fabio Cavani (Bernal) and Dr Laura Somerfeld (Ferres) to investigate and report on the incident. There, they are kidnapped by CEO Matt Riley (Shannon) whose company is believed to have caused a nearby lake to transform into an expanding desert. He tries to make them experience the true nature of an environmental disaster but when a nearby volcano threatens to erupt, Riley is forced to work together with his abducted duo to avoid the imminent disaster.
