My husband found this old bottle in the backyard of my 210 year old farmhouse.  It appears to be an old ink bottle with a pontil mark on the bottom. The corners are flattened, which actually make the bottle into an octangle shape.

The bottom also has a "C" or "G" (I can't quite tell) and a "54" embossed on it.  The metal cover is quite rusty as can be seen in the pictures.

The bottle is 2 inches long by ~1 1/2 inches wide and ~ 2 1/2 inches tall with cover.  The diameter of the cover is 1 1/2 inches.
