The Stanley scraper number 82 is a 14 1/2 inch long scraper blade holder which has a long wooden handle and a wooden front knob. The cast iron frame is finished with black japanning.

This #82 is the Type 1 ( earliest design)  The angle of the handle/blade can be adjusted by two mechanisms.  A thumb screw tilts the scraping blade . The handle has a locking pivot joint fixed by another turning screw.   Type 2’s have serrations on this mechanism while this Type 1 does not.

The Stanley 82 scraper was designed to holding a variety of profiled scraper blades so that everything from general paint scraping removal, cabinet shaving to flooring refinishing could be done.

The # 82 was manufactured by Stanley between 1898 – 1934 – since this is a Type 1 without the spring that suggests it was manufactured before the 1920’s.

All screw adjustments work, comes with removable blade. Many woodworking aficionados still look for them as their operation stands the test of time. Vintage condition but is still useable for the purposes it was made. This paint scraper shows scuffing, and markings typical for it’s age and use.
