Intake Air Temperature Sensor (IAT) Manifold Air Temperature Sensor (MAT) Air Charge Temperature Sensor (ACT) What It Does: The Intake Air Temperature Sensor is a computer input for the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) and Transmission Control Module (TCM). This information is required for proper air/fuel mixture and transmission operation. Location: The Intake Air Temperature sensor may be located in the air cleaner housing, intake air duct hose, threaded into the intake manifold or in combination with the MAP sensor in some applications. Failure Symptoms: Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) illumination, failed emission test, nostart condition, engine surge or hesitation or transmission shift control problems.
