***SOLD***t201 ROALS AMUNDSEN Directed by David Cobham, Produced by BBC Television. The story of the race to the south pole in January 1911. Scott arrived 35 days later and died on return.

t202 BURKE & WILLS Written by Robert Wales, Directed by Tony Snowdon. The story of the exploration of the Australian enterior in August of 1860. Burke & Wills were commissioned to Traverse the continent. They came within 2 miles of the North bay and would die of starvation on the return trip.

t203 CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS (Long version) Written by Jesse Lasky & Pat Silver. Directed by Lawrence Gordon Clark. Cuba 1492. A lot of time is devoted to the dramatization of the colonies that Columbus established on the Cuban islands.

***SOLD***t204 CAPTAIN JAMES COOK (Long version) Running time: 50 minutes. Written by Hammond Innes, Directed by John Irvin. Story of Captian Cook's first ship "Endeavor" in search of a continent on May 26, 1768. He was commissioned as a 1st Lt by England. In three years he and his crew traveled 42,000 miles finding several islands, among them the island of Tahiti where they spent three months. Captain Cook claimed Autralia for England where they would live for four months. His voyage is called the first Pacific Scientific expidition in history.

***SOLD***t205 CHARLES DOUGHTY Running time: 50 minutes. Written by David Howarth, Directed by David McCallum. This is the story of the explorations of Doughty in the Arabian Desert and his time with the Beduins.

t206 ALEXANDER VON HUMBOLT Written by Robert Muller, Directed by Fred Burnley. July 16, 1799 to June 1800. Story about Humbolt's scientific exploration of South America. First explorer to see the Amazon by canoe. He traveled over 40 different rapids. At times he was starved, ran a high fever and still traveled 1500 miles and studied/logged 60,000 specimens. In total Humbolt explored for 6 years and spent the next 30 years writing it all down on paper.

t207 MARY KINGSLEY Written by Rosemary Ann Sisson, Directed by Tony Snowdon. Account of Mary Kingsley's ventures into unexplored areas of Africa that is inhabited by cannibles. Very graphic. (40 minutes)

***SOLD***t209 HENRY MORTON STANLEY Written by Jesse Lasky & Pat Silver, Directed by Fred Burnley. Six year old Stanley was left in workhouse where he would live until he was 15 years old. He became a cabin boy on a ship to America. Later he would travel to Africa in search of David Livingston. The famous line "Dr Livingston, I presume?" originated from his first meeting with Dr Livingston. They became close friends. After Livingston died Stanley felt he should find the source of the Nile river. At the age of 35, three years after entering Africa, he gathered 300 natives to assist him on his quest. By August of 1877 he and his "army" had attacked and destroyed 28 towns, fought 32 land and river battles, gone over 52 rapids, built 30 miles of tramway through the forest and hauled canoes and a boat (it had been sectioned) up 6 miles over a mountain. Of the 300 men he begain with only 112 survived.***SOLD***
