Here is a pair of glass canister jars, that were made in Italy, probably in the 1960s. (They are similar to the canister jars imported by Takahashi, but I believe that those were made in Japan.) I have seen an ad for one of these jars, which was marked “Made in Italy” in the glass on the bottom. These are not marked.

The lids have nice large tab handles. The bottoms are indented upwards a little. The glass lids and the necks of the jars are ground to fit together. The color is a very pretty, intense, medium blue color (not as deep of blue as cobalt). The medium size jar is a little bit lighter in color and a bit more towards turquoise than the large jar. But they seem to have the same tints, so I don’t know if it’s lighter just because it’s smaller, or if it’s a variation in the glass batch.

There are several bubbles in the bottom of the large jar. There also are a few small bubbles in the sides of the jar, and one in the handle of the lid. The medium size jar also has a couple of tiny bubbles in the glass and a few in the lid. The glass on the top of the medium lid is swirled. The large jar is slightly over 10 inches tall to the top of the handle on the lid, and nearly 5 inches wide at the bottom. The medium jar is about 9 inches tall and nearly 4 inches wide at the bottom.

The large jar is in great condition, with some roughness around the inner edge of the rim, and a few tiny chips there.  The largest ones are one that’s 4 mm long and one next to it that’s 8 mm long. The rest are minuscule and I smoothed them a bit with my diamond file.

The medium jar is a little more crude. There is a mold seam below the rim of the neck that has factory molding roughness and some small chips where extra glass was knocked off. The top edge of the rim, however, has several chips in it. I tried to show this in my last 5 photos. There are small chips going almost all the way around the rim. The three main chips are right together and each measure about 7 mm long. This does not impact its usefulness if you use them for canister jars. The medium lid is in very good condition. It has a small flake 2 mm by 4 mm and some factory roughness on the inner edge of the bottom without chips. A line that looks like a hairline crack actually is the end of a swirl in the glass where it was ground off to fit the jar.

Shipped together these jars will be in a 14“ cube box weighing about 7 pounds.

These will be shipped by either UPS Ground or USPS Ground Advantage rate (except for International). Local delivery is always available for free to a mutually agreed upon meeting place. This cannot be shipped by UPS to a post office box. Please contact me before purchase, if you need to have it shipped to a PO Box.
