In 2005 Leland Shaw had an exhibition called Ceramic Legends at the Brad Cooper Gallery in Ybur City, Tampa.

This exhibition spotlighted Shaw’s long term investigation of three dimensional surface decoration applied to functional pottery.
The Herald Tribune wrote -

In his evolving visual language, Shaw's mold-pressed figures attached to utilitarian forms combine two ceramic languages: the light ambience and detailing of 18th-century rococo porcelain and the devilish, satirical wit of California ceramists Ann Adair, Richard Shaw and Robert Arneson.

This piece is wheel thrown.  It is 5” high.  The diameter of the pot is 5” and the diameter of the base is 7 1/2”.
The next to last photo shows an alligator with his front claw missing.  This is the only flaw that I found.
The writing at the bottom of the pot reads “AD MAJOREM GLORIAM BON VINI
Ad Majorem Gloriam is the Latin motto of the Jesuits.  It means “For the greater glory of God”.  Bon Vini translates as “Good Wine”.  I think any plant that finds a home in this pot will thrive!

I welcome all questions and requests for more photos.
