This 3.5" purple/pink splashed jug was made in the 1940s in Stoke-On-Trent, Staffordshire England. The white ware or blank was made by Lancaster & Sandland and decorated and sold by Gray's Pottery under the Old Castle name. The jug features a transfer print horse and carriage scene with hand-painted color detail. The purple/pink splashed luster frames the scene. The splashed luster finish is also referred to as mottled or splatter luster. The jug measures 3.5" (8.89 cm) tall and 4.25" (10.8 cm) wide. The jug is in good condition, with crazing throughout and some minor wear to the decoration that does not detract from its beauty or functionality. It is a lovely example of English craftsmanship and style, and it would make a perfect gift for yourself or someone special who appreciates vintage pottery.
